PaveDrain | Leonard Street Apartments, Grand Rapids MI

Background

The Leonard Street Apartments, a residential complex in Grand Rapids, Michigan, needed an on-site stormwater management solution as part of its site development.

Challenge

Like many infill residential sites, the property had limited room for conventional stormwater detention, and runoff from new parking and drive areas had to be managed on site to meet local requirements — without giving up space that could otherwise serve residents.

Solution

interfaceh2o supplied approximately 2,311 sq ft of PaveDrain permeable articulating concrete pavement for the complex. Engineered by Comprehensive Engineering and installed by Rivers Edge Landscape Management, the PaveDrain surface captures rainfall where it falls and stores it in the system’s built-in arched reservoir, letting it infiltrate rather than run off. The result is a durable, drivable surface that doubles as the site’s stormwater infrastructure. The project was completed in August 2025.
