Meet Our Team
James Smits is the founder and president of Interface H2O. Having grown up on a farm in Michigan, James was raised with a natural respect and responsibility for the environment and a knack for hard work and problem solving.
At Interface H2O, James hopes to use education and partnership to shift the paradigm from thinking of stormwater as a liability to an asset. With years of experience from Frontier Solutions, James is an expert in finding and implementing the right sustainable infrastructure solution for your project.
James earned a bachelor’s from Hope College and is a part of the International Erosion Control Association (IECA).
Sales and Operations
Fulfilling his childhood passion for the environment and sustainability, Mike serves as the head of sales and operations at Interface H2O. He is dedicated to providing honest, helpful solutions for clients as Interface H2O emerges as a leader in the sustainable infrastructure industry.
Mike joined Interface H2O with over 14 years of experience at the Ottawa County Drain Commissioner’s office and a bachelor’s degree in environmental management from Western Michigan University.
Dennis has been a part of Interface H₂O since its origin and serves as a resource to the team. With a bachelor’s in geology from Grand Valley and a master’s in geology from Western Michigan University, Dennis is no stranger to environmental work.
Dennis has over 45 years of experience in the environmental industry, including companies like Williams & Works, WW Engineering & Science Inc., and Earth Tech, Inc. Some of his accomplishments include developing WWES’ Environmental Services Division and directing a nationwide services program for railroads.
Dennis has previously served two, four-year terms as a Councilman for the City of Zeeland, a five-year post as Commissioner of the Zeeland Board of Public Works, and was a member of the Holland Charter Township Planning Commission.
Passionate about keeping water fresh and clean, Bill is dedicated to finding the right stormwater solution for each environmental problem.
Bill joined the Interface H₂O team with over 30 years of sales experience and a bachelor’s in business administration from Hope College. He implements Interface H₂O’s product line and educates companies on the stormwater solutions available and their benefits.
At Interface H₂O, Kerri-Sue builds relationships with clients and implements management practices for our company. Kerri-Sue developed a passion for sustainability while studying science at Hope College and manages our participation in events like the Macatawa Water Festival.
Kerri-Sue is dedicated to to building awareness around alternative solutions to excess stormwater and educating our community on green infrastructure.
Kerri-Sue serves on the Laketown Counseling Centers Board.
